Common mistakes when buying a running watch:

One of the most common catch phrases related to mistakes would be that of saying that it is one of the best ways for a person to learn a lesson. Some even go as far as saying that in order for one to actually have some knowledge in something, they must first commit mistakes. Unfortunately, these statements do not really ring true when it comes to running watches.

This is because if you are a beginner in the field of purchasing running watches, then you may make some mistakes that could literally prove to be costly. Remember that purchasing a running watch is usually not cheap, and making a mistake would either set you back by a few hundred dollars or stifle your ability to fully exert yourself during your training sessions.

Actually, you may be better served if you would know of the common mistakes before hand and then avoid them. This would allow you to purchase a good running watch, and get on your training program without any hassles.

Here are some common mistakes that you should avoid when you are buying a running watch:

Becoming a Slave to the price:

Some people can get caught up with the two extremes when it comes to the price of the running watches. Some people would automatically purchase a running watch simply because it’s the cheapest or would purchase the most expensive one because they believe that price is the determining factor for the quality of the watch.

Conversely, there are also people who would not purchase a cheap running watch simply because they think it is made of inferior goods or has inadequate features, while some would avoid buying the expensive watches because they think it is overpriced.

Actually, when it comes to buying a running watch, you should be able to select based on the features and the quality and not on the price alone. You would be surprised to find out that some of the best watches are priced inexpensively, and that there are those highly expensive watches that are not able to perform to the level that you would expect it to.

Not asking about the warranty coverage:

Another common mistake that people would make when regards to purchasing running watches is that they do not ask about the warranty coverage. This means that when their running watch would malfunction for whatever reason, they become lost in trying to find good solutions for fixing it.

You should check the warranty coverage of your running watch before purchasing it. This would allow you to determine if the situations that you may encounter during the day to day use of the watch that can lead to its malfunctions are actually covered by the warranty.

Not checking for Compatible Accessories

Lastly, some people do not ask about the accessories of the running watch that they purchase. They would suddenly be surprised that their watch would not be able to accommodate the additional accessories that they need for a more complete training (cadence sensors, heart rate monitors, etc.)

You should always try to find out what kind of accessories can the running watch be used with in order to fully maximize your purchase.

By knowing the common mistakes that beginners commit when purchasing running watches, you would be able to avoid making similar errors when it’s your turn to purchase one.
