3 Stars Bargain Watch – Not Unisex
This Timex watch is a real bargain, but it does have a very large works, which is about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Clearly, this is too large for a smaller wrist, and accordingly not truly unisex.

The watch itself was easy to set up and has a large readable display. However, the function buttons are labeled in red against a gray background and are difficult to read. The start/stop, indiglo, mode, and set buttons are in the same locations on the dial as my previous Timex Ironman watch, so the functions were familiar to me.

Bottom line – If you have a large wrist, prefer a large display, and are short on cash, I recommend this watch. Otherwise, get the Timex Ironman.

This watch is too bulky and big to wear. The price makes it look tempting but it swallowed my wrist. The size is more like a guy’s wrist watch. Would never buy again. It’s huge!!

3 Stars Not as good as my old Casio
I’m not positive mine is the exact same model as this because mine is all black, but it is a Timex unisex 30-lap Flix Ironman and my comments should apply to all in this series. Although I’m a six-foot-tall man, I have thin wrists and can’t wear a man’s watch. Even this one is larger than I’d like. One of our wedding presents was his/hers gardening gloves. I wear the hers, my wife wears the his, but I digress. Sorry to say, Amazon, but you really shouldn’t buy a watch online; you need to try them on to see if they will fit your wrist.

I wanted it as my everyday watch to show time and date and as a stopwatch for running. It serves the first purpose well, with nice big numerals, which my middle aged eyes need. I’m happy with that part. I am disappointed in it as a stopwatch, though, and as an alarm clock/timer. The biggest difference between the Casios and the Timexes to me as a runner is that the Timex watches have the start/split button in front and stop on the side, while the Casio has the front button be stop/start. On both the front button is large and easy to push (or used to be on my old Casio, although I’ve heard that’s not so true for the newer ones). But I find it almost impossible to push the stop button on this Timex. At first when I began using this for timing my runs I would fail to stop the watch at the end more often than I succeeded, thus losing the timing data. You can’t use the split button for that because 10 seconds after you press it it reverts to the continuously running mode, so you have to memorize the split time or write it down. I want to stop the time and write down the time after I get home (driving from where I run at the park).

It is so hard to stop it that I found I was twisting the bejeebers out of the band when I pressed hard enough, so I started pressing equally hard from the opposite direction (the upper left) in a pinching motion to counteract the thumb at the stop button (lower right), but that didn’t work because the Set/Recall button (upper left) would always register the push first, changing it out of stopwatch mode to time set mode and thus the stop button didn’t work as a stop but instead changed the time. Eventually I learned to prepare to stop it about 10 seconds before the end of the run by finding the tiny sweet spot between the mode button and the 12:00 position with one finger and placing my thumb on the stop button, then squeezing really hard when I reach the end. Even doing this sometimes it doesn’t stop. This is not just my particular watch with this problem, either, because I tested several in the store when I bought an identical (except purple) one for my daughter (who specifically asked for an Ironman). They all had the really hard-to-press stop buttons. For what it’s worth, she loves hers, but she’s a triathlete and uses the lap features a lot, which I don’t.

For the alarm functions, I found them really hard to use mainly due to the Occasion mode always jumping in. If you don’t use it regularly, you can think you’re setting the alarm to wake you the next morning and instead it turns out you set it to ring when it’s somebody’s birthday or some other occasion. I find it much easier (and much louder) to use my cell phone as an alarm clock when traveling.

5 Stars Great watch for the price
This watch looks great and feels really comfortable on my wrist. I bought it for a simple watch to wear when I working around the house and exercising. For the price, it is great.

I love that the simplicity of its use as well as the stopwatch and 3 alarms.

The only downside, in my opinion, is that the strap is thinner than I thought. I took some getting used to but I think it actually makes it more comfortable.

I’ve used a Timex Ironman watch for the last 15+ years. When I couldn’t find the model that I had been using, I ordered this one because it had the features I wanted–big numbers, chronograph and timer, different time zones, multiple alarms and convenient buttons. BUT when it came, it was smaller than what I expected a “midsize” watch would be, and my first thought was ‘Well, let’s send it back”. Then I started playing with it and discovered now easy it is to set, to use and how comfortable it is to wear! It’s perfect for this little old gray-haired lady!!

1 Star Why would anyone buy based on those pictures?
If you click to look at the pictures, they’re all complaining about it, and the cracked band, etc… ? why would anyone buy this with all of those horrible pictures there that show how awful it is?

3 Stars stylish with great functionality but not durable.
I’ve gone through two of these watches in 3 years (the fact that I bought the same one shows how much I do like them). But I think it is time to move on. I wore this watch 24/7. With the first watch, the silver paint wore off almost as soon as I took it swimming in saltwater. But I didn’t give up on it until the strap broke about a year later. I went back to Target and this was still the watch I liked most. I use it as an alarm clock when I travel, and even as a timer on occasion. So I bought another one, thinking that maybe Timex had fixed the issue with the peeling paint. But a year and a half later I’m in the same situation: the paint has partly worn off in saltwater and the strap broke.

I bought this watch to help me train for my first half-marathon. Has all the standard features we’re used to with digital watches, time, date, chrono w/split times, etc. You can also program occasions like birthdays, meetings, and anniversaries so you don’t forget to stop and buy flowers during your run. The feature I use the most on this watch is the countdown timer. BEWARE!! I’m about 5’10″ and 160lbs and have small wrists which prompted me to go for the unisex model; however, the watch case is more a ladies or teen size. I only wear it for running so it doesn’t bother me too much, but my buddies would have a good time of it if I wore this out to the bar.

Good quality & functions for all the things my 7, 12, & 13 year olds wanted it for. Fun colors too!

1 Star Nice look, bad watch
I bought this watch cause i really liked the look of it and the color and the reviews for it were mostly good. I also needed a watch that was waterproof so that I didn’t need to take it off every time i went near water. One small thing that i found annoying was that when setting the time or alarm or anything, you couldn’t go down so if you go one minute too high you have to go ALL the way back around. One more thing is that on the timer, you have to reset it every time that you use it. For example, if I set 5 minutes on it, and then pressed start, once it gets down to 0, and I want to use it again I have to reset the whole thing. There was one giant problem with the watch for me. On here it said that it was waterproof. The very first time that it got wet for me it fogged up inside, and I couldn’t read the numbers as easily. About a week later, water droplets started getting in my watch. Then all of the numbers disappeared and now its blank. If you ask me, you can find a watch a LOT better than this. It may not look as cool, but this one didn’t work at all for me. I had it for less than a month.

Nice looks, but very unintuitive menus to change date and alarm etc. buttons very hard to press..leaves painful dents in your skin that feel sore for 10 minutes after..you get only what you pay for.

4 Stars Excellent HRM
Purchased one of these guys (w/o the USB data transfer device) about a month ago and am really loving it. It’s very easy to use, accurate, and really helps you make sure you’re working in the zones that you intend. I use it for doing HIIT intervals and it’s great…and fun as well to see how your body adapts and becomes more fit over time. This watch has all the basic features and the fact that you don’t have to send the chest belt back to the factory to change the battery (like you do with the Polar watches) is a plus. The only two things that I would like a bit different that warrant 4 stars, instead of 5, are that the buttons are not always as smooth as I’d like and tend to grab a bit. Also, I wish the watch just had a straight stopwatch in addition to the chronograph. Overall, a good HRM though.

3 Stars Triathlon name is misnomer – but good monitor otherwise
The watch has “Triathlon” below the Ironman label, and the manual states it is a triathlon training tool. However, this monitor will not work while swimming. It is an excellent tool for cycling and running, and the review mode is very helpful in recording workout information. I called Timex when the heart rate monitor failed to function in the pool after re-reading the manual to see if the problem could be pilot error. Instead, Timex warranty personnel told me the watch did not work while swimming and was not intended to and there was nothing they could do about the problem. (Not very courteous in providing that information as well.) He also added none of the monitors will work in water. This is incorrect as Polar monitors work quite well while swimming. At the advertised price on Amazon, this is a very good value, and if you don’t need it for swimming, it is very good. I bought the monitor specifically for cycling and swimming, and I still considered keeping it because the other features of the watch are excellent.

5 Stars better than polar
It looks better than a Polar, is lighter and more user-friendly system, it is very easy to program. Excellent condition. I had a Polar and had trouble because he broke in 2 occasions, also lost its original color.

4 Stars Easy to use heart beat rate monitor
It’s very easy to use. If you just want to see and monitor your heart bit rate, without any alarm, limit etc, this things is very simple to use.

Going further takes some reading of the manual; setting of zone 1-5, or manual limit, alarm, weigh etc.

Wearing this does improve your work out in terms of;

- you can pace your work out more methodically

- you have measurable target for your work out

- barring some hiccups (mentioned below), you can review your work out

- the above normally can be done on tread mill machine only. you get benefit of “measures” tread mill while doing your work out on the read

- overall this gives better motivation on each of your work out.

Draw back;

- I learnt that once in a while during the exercise, communication between sensor and the watch got disconnected. The low limit alarm buzzed off bpm <90 in the midst of my heavy workout (or else I must have been dead . This in spite of sensor properly moisturized and sweat. After a while the bpm count will come back to where it should.

- hence when this happens the “review” mode will not reflect the actual work out.

- label prints on the watch is too small. you have to read manual to guess what’s printed there.

4 Stars Tough little number
Purchased as a gift for my 11-year old son, it has been a really tough watch that my son has been unable to destroy. The only prolem is the band velcro gets worn out on the end.

3 Stars Great watch, bad band
Pros:

-option for 2 time zones (I work in aviation – about half of my work requires local time, the other half GMT, so it’s handy to display one or the other with a quick push of a button)

-compass

-timer

-multiple alarms

-velcro band allows quick/easy on/off

-I’ve given this watch a pretty good beating (especially all the times it’s fallen on the ground…), and it’s held up great

Cons:

-the band! The velcro wore out after just a few months & the watch CONSTANTLY comes undone & falls off (I’ve almost lost it several times). The slightest catch/pull on the band opens it up – usually my shirt sleeve is enough to undo it

-the compass fell out after about 3 months & I did lose that (it probably would have popped right back in had I been able to find it, but I didn’t realize it was gone until it was too late)

I’m actually browsing the site to try & find a replacement band so I can keep the same watch. Had I known about the problem with the velcro band, I probably wouldn’t have gotten it in the first place, but it’s a nice enough watch that I’d prefer to just replace the band rather than find a whole new watch.

3 Stars Good functionality, but a little too feminine for a men’s watch.
The color of the outside is not black and silver, its black and pastel green contrary to what the picture looks like. Also the watch face is a lot smaller than it looks in the picture making it look, as mentioned in the title, like a female watch more so than a mens. Not a big enough of a deal to return it, just something to think about. Also the compass part on the band looks as though you could fit something under it, it doesnt fit snuggly against the bang so it sticks up a little, also there is just a plastic link holding the band together I feel as though this could get broken easily.

OVERALL, worth the money but I dont think Ill be wearing this to work anytime soon (blue collar), better for excercising.

This watch is everything it is supposed to be. It is a bit clumsy for a small wrist like mine, but since it has a velcro attachment, I can adjust it easily. I like the ease in using the alarm and other functions and I am really happy to have the multiple time zone setting since I travel a great deal.

5 Stars My new Timex EXPEDITION watch..
Wasn’t sure I was going to like the strap, but I do. Velcro is a wonderful thing. Not to big and not small, just right size for me. Numbers are clear. I love that it has time,date,day and seconds counting on the face. A small compass on the strap above the clock face, that’s cool. Leaving the best for last, the little light. I wear glasses and in the middle of the night just touch the button and the face is fully lit up. I have always liked the INDIGLO. I just wish it was BLUE and Black instead of Green and Black.

3 Stars Good value for a stopwatch
This Timex is one of only a few stopwatches commonly available, as best I can tell. It has proven quite durable, despite my subjecting it to extremely heavy use. I do voiceover professionally, much of my work is for TV promos, and they must all be timed accurately. This means that my stopwatch is in heavy use all day, five or more days per week. The currently unavailable Casio’s that I previously used were easier to use and ergonomically superior, in that the reset function was instant, as opposed to this Timex, which requires that the reset button be depresed and held for about five seconds to actually reset the watch. Another peculiarity is that hitting the reset button a second time after holding it down to reset the timer, puts the stopwatch into “automatic” mode, which I do not understand, need or use, but which causes the device to behave in a bizarre fashion until you figure out what’s happening, once again stop, then reset, the tap the reset button again to take it out of automatic mode. These two things make it annoying to use with some regularity, but it is a robust device and not terribly expensive. It also has the virtue of being one of the few stopwatches that are available at the moment. If you intend to use it in connection with audio recording, note that the device beeps upon pushing the buttons, so you will need to do as I have and get a watch shop to silence the beeps, otherwise it will interfere with recording. It would be wonderful if Timex were to modify the firmware so as to allow turning off the sounds and making the reset instantaneous. With either of those changes I’d give it 4 stars and with both, I’d give it 5.

5 Stars Love the fnctions and the backlight
I bought it because of the backlight (which works great for late night jogs). The other features are also great and easy to use. I love this stop watch.

1 Star Poorly designed interface for reset
This stopwatch isn’t optimized for a simple start/stop/reset operation. So if you want to simply record duration of an event like a rest period for sets at the gym, this is horrid. In order to reset you hold the middle button(which is difficult to hold) for about 3-4 seconds. I usually accomplish this by smashing the stopwatch against a hard object rather than punish my finger with the extremely hard to press center button. This should really be a SINGLE touch.

I’m very disappointed with this product, for that reason. It’s also kinda huge.

1 Star Poor in many ways
As a cross country and track&field coach, I live and die by my stopwatch.

1) Very confusing with poorly written directions (I build my own PCs, so I consider myself fairly savvy with technology).

2) Watch says WR 50M, but obviously not rain resistant. Ever since I got caught in the rain at a track meet, the watch has intermittently stopped working.

2 Stars doesn’t reset fast enough.
Nice font, big stopwatch, comfotable hold in hand, but the reset button for the basic stopwatch function needs to be held for a couple of seconds in order to reset…I needed that to be instant so I had to send it back.
