5 Stars too complicated
this watch was too complicated to program. I wanted a watch that had the pedometer in it so I wouldnt have to have it hanging on my waist but this is so complicated I cant figure it out. wish I never bought it

4 Stars Tech 4 watch
The watch is hard to figure out at first but I did call the customer service desk and they were able to help me work it… The lady was very helpful and knew exactly what she was talking about it. The distance is a little off, but it still gives me an idea of how far I ran. It’s not a 100% accurate so it’s suppose to be a little off. I like this watch and am glad I bought it.

I have had my pedometer watch for a few months now and I love it! It seems to be pretty accurate even on longer runs (12 miles). It is cute and not too big and has held up well even when wearing 5+ days a week.

It’s a great watch it is pretty accurate for the price. If you take the time to callebrate it correctly it can be 95+% accurate. The best way is to go on the track and callebrate your steps or running stride there.

1 Star this watch is a useless piece of junk
this watch is good for one thing – telling time. i have measured and correctly entered my stride lengths, it does not work. i have called tech 4o customer service 4 times. they were very nice, but of zero help to me. i have tried everything in the 3 months that i gave this watch a fair shot to make it work out. it does not read accurate distances, period. every time i run the same verified 4 mile loop, i get a different distance reading. it was a waste of $55. i’m very very disappointed.

3 Stars Good value for a stopwatch
This Timex is one of only a few stopwatches commonly available, as best I can tell. It has proven quite durable, despite my subjecting it to extremely heavy use. I do voiceover professionally, much of my work is for TV promos, and they must all be timed accurately. This means that my stopwatch is in heavy use all day, five or more days per week. The currently unavailable Casio’s that I previously used were easier to use and ergonomically superior, in that the reset function was instant, as opposed to this Timex, which requires that the reset button be depresed and held for about five seconds to actually reset the watch. Another peculiarity is that hitting the reset button a second time after holding it down to reset the timer, puts the stopwatch into “automatic” mode, which I do not understand, need or use, but which causes the device to behave in a bizarre fashion until you figure out what’s happening, once again stop, then reset, the tap the reset button again to take it out of automatic mode. These two things make it annoying to use with some regularity, but it is a robust device and not terribly expensive. It also has the virtue of being one of the few stopwatches that are available at the moment. If you intend to use it in connection with audio recording, note that the device beeps upon pushing the buttons, so you will need to do as I have and get a watch shop to silence the beeps, otherwise it will interfere with recording. It would be wonderful if Timex were to modify the firmware so as to allow turning off the sounds and making the reset instantaneous. With either of those changes I’d give it 4 stars and with both, I’d give it 5.

5 Stars Love the fnctions and the backlight
I bought it because of the backlight (which works great for late night jogs). The other features are also great and easy to use. I love this stop watch.

1 Star Poorly designed interface for reset
This stopwatch isn’t optimized for a simple start/stop/reset operation. So if you want to simply record duration of an event like a rest period for sets at the gym, this is horrid. In order to reset you hold the middle button(which is difficult to hold) for about 3-4 seconds. I usually accomplish this by smashing the stopwatch against a hard object rather than punish my finger with the extremely hard to press center button. This should really be a SINGLE touch.

I’m very disappointed with this product, for that reason. It’s also kinda huge.

1 Star Poor in many ways
As a cross country and track&field coach, I live and die by my stopwatch.

1) Very confusing with poorly written directions (I build my own PCs, so I consider myself fairly savvy with technology).

2) Watch says WR 50M, but obviously not rain resistant. Ever since I got caught in the rain at a track meet, the watch has intermittently stopped working.

2 Stars doesn’t reset fast enough.
Nice font, big stopwatch, comfotable hold in hand, but the reset button for the basic stopwatch function needs to be held for a couple of seconds in order to reset…I needed that to be instant so I had to send it back.

1 Star Looks great but doesn’t work
the product arrived in a timely fashion. It looks great! But neither I nor either of my adult sons can figure out how to work it!! You can’t set the time and without that cannot get a start on it. So, three adults cannot get it to function.

2 Stars Oslo Stop Watches
Start and Stop buttons sometimes do not work properly. You have to press really hard to get them to function.

1 Star Lowest Possible Quality for the Money
Bought these figuring they would be a good value for timing our local high school swim meets. Didn’t want to spend too much since the watches often “walk”. They are unusable. I returned all 12 of them. Buttons are too hard to click for a stopwatch. Also hard to get into the right mode and keep it there. Timers would be unable to get accurate results. Not necessarily the low price that makes them cheap–just poorly made. I got some new ones that cost only slightly more and they work great!

3 Stars if they are good, they are very very good…
I bought several of these for timing work and swim laps; two work very easily and well, and two were crotchety, not turning on and off easily and making me slip on the time. It seems the quality is inconsistent.

Extremely cheap…toy. They remind me of party favors. The buttons are oblong, and rock one way or the other when pressed. Sometimes a press results in the actual button making contact, sometimes not. I bought 4 and all 4 are like this, it’s not a fluke. Pick another stopwatch.

1 Star Hard to use, expensive, frustrating
This is my 5th Polar product in 10 years and it is the worst. I’m replacing a S720i which got into flakey modes that started and stopped lap times constantly, overflowing the memory. For some reason, I decided to stay with Polar over the other brands and figured I’d go high-end with the speed and GPS sensors. First, deciphering the complexities of the RS800 licensing caused me to have to order and reorder units making it about 3-4 weeks turnaround to get what I thought I ordered the first time. The Polar Software, the watch interface and loading sensors is a cryptic mess. I’m not bad with technology, but getting the watch to recognize a bike speed sensor so far is impossible. You will go back and forth syncing your watch to your desktop and clicking hard to press buttons and listening to incessant beeping instead of training. I seriously have spend more time trying to make this thing work than setting up a new computer. This thing is really NOT worth the very high price. You are not getting a higher quality product, you’re just getting more of the same complicated 90’s technology for a lot more money.

3 Stars A top product with serious flaws
As the top model of Polar’s product range, I am somewhat disheartened by what I consider serious downsides:

- the external GPS sensor is very bulky and comparably heavy – bigger and heavier than the whole unit of the Garmin Forerunner 405. It’s also slower to get a fix on satellites than the Garmin.

- the low battery warning gets on far too late, often when you are in the middle of the run – too late to change batteries then.

- even though I follow religiously Polar’s cleaning instructions, the chest belts lose their conductivity after a few months’ time, which is frustrating

- while the Polar software allows you to export the GPS data into Google Earth or as a GPX file into a GPX viewer, there should be an option to save directly into a GPX file. The Google Earth export does not work well on my system and the GPX export mixes up the time of the day

- the Polar ProTrainer 5 training software is still not available for Mac, which I think is unacceptable. It is also incompatible with Windows 7 (64bit) (the syncing doesn’t work), and if history is anything to go by, it will be months if not longer before Polar manages to make a fix available.

For the occasional runner, I think the Forerunner 405 is by far the better option, with much cleverer software (also available for Mac), easier syncing (Win 7 compatible of course), coming in a smaller package at a much better price.

Polar need to get their act together if they want to continue charging these sort of prices for their “top” products.

1 Star Lousy Product
Purchased this new and it functioned well for about 60 days. Used the PPT software as well as the Weblink. Watch stopped transfering data on a Friday, the following day it stopped communicating with the heart sensor. I took it to the jeweler to have the battery replaced and they were unable to open the watch. Polar told me to send it back, so I did. 3 weeks later the watch was returned supposedly repaired under warranty and STILL HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. No fix.. no communication with either the sensor or the computer. Make sure you read the Polar forums before buying ANY Polar product. You’ll have an eye opening experience as to what to expect from your $500 purchase.

3 Stars some things good, some bad
Well, I wanted to upgrade from my old Polar unit that I used for swimming as well as trail running. On the Polar website under “Product Search” I ticked the box that said I wanted a training unit for swimming and the RS800CX, among others, was suggested. I shut my eyes about the cost and ordered a unit. However, when I unpacked it and read the manual I was shocked to discover you can’t read heart rate in the water. Not that it isn’t waterproof, you can wear it to swim, but the signal can’t be transmitted, no heart rate values. So no training in the swimming pool then. Why is it recommended for triathletes? I don’t know. It would have been nice to know up front about the lack of swimming training capability. Anyhow I’ve been using it for hikes and runs and am well pleased with the GPS function. I can see how far my routes go, how many vertical feet, how much effort I’m putting into those hills, and see my routes on Google Earth. Pretty cool. But, the AA battery needed for the GPS runs out fast. Today, the stop button stopped working on the main wrist unit. So now I shall find out how good Polar customer service is. Many good points to this watch but too many not so good points for the price tag.

I bought this product and realised that it does not work with a mac and there is currently no other software available to use its training functions. Only good if you are a windows athelete.

5 Stars Suits all your needs
This watch is great, it gives you time, distance, pace and calories. This watch works for everyday workouts to long training runs – it is great!

3 Stars Works well. Footpod a little bulky and diplay a little hard to see.
The Polar RS300X works well. But the footpod is a little bulky compared to some others I’ve seen (specially the Nike+ one). The monitor has a lot of functions, but during workout is somehow difficult to read, as the numbers are thin and small, specially the pace. During the night it becomes really hard to use.
